Why Develop a Web Presence when I don’t plan on selling
over the Internet?
Over the last few years, the Internet has changed the way many of us investigate,
shop and purchase products or services in Canada. While many may not purchase
directly online, they do use the Internet as a sort of "Yellow Pages"
or directory in determining the right product or service.
What are the costs involved in setting up a web site?
There are 3 main costs associated to setting up a web site,
1. Registering the Domain Name…a typical name could be www.yourcompany.ca
(ca indicating Canada)
2. Setting up a web hosting service, also know as an Internet Service
Provider or ISP. This is the company who provides the computers to host
your site to the Internet.
3. Hiring a web designer / developer. The person who will build your site.
Points one and two are fixed ongoing costs. Domain names range between
$20 and $40 per year. Reliable ISP’s charge approximately $20 to
$30 per month or $240 to $360 per year. Development fees to build a site
can range from a few hundred to several thousands of dollars. Bottom Line,
most sites are in the area of $1000.00 to get up and running.
What are the costs to change or update the site?
Updates and additions to your site are billed at $75 per hour. There is
no charge for contact information updates, i.e. changes to, address or
phone & fax numbers. Check our pricing page for a complete list of
our services and fees.
How can WebSites4U.ca offer web sites for $249.00 per year?
First, we have setup a master domain, www.localbusiness.ca, to host your
businesses listing. Your site name would be i.e. www.localbusiness.ca/yourcompanyname.
This saves in the yearly registration of individual domain names.
Second, by having multiple companies sharing this web space, the costs
for the ISP are shared.
Thirdly, we provide you a number of professionally designed web site templates
for you to choice from. You simply provide us the text, pictures and graphics
you would like to present and we build your information into the sample
templates.
What if our packages are not exactly what you want?
You may want a different design. Maybe you have a design in mind or you
want your site to reflect your current marketing campaign. We can work
together with you to provide a custom made site. Check some of the sites
we have developed for other clients on our Links page.
What if I want my own Domain Name?
We can register a new domain name or move a current name, i.e. www.yourcompanyname.ca,
and provide you with hosting or forwarding services. Check our pricing
page for the cost.
Can WebSites4U write the text for my site?
Need some help pulling this all together? We can do it for you! For many
small business owners, they just don't have the time to prepare the information
they want to present. Let us know the template you like, send us your
current marketing information, brochures, product literature etc. and
we will quote you on developing the copy for you.
What is a .jpg or .gif file?
A jpg or gif is an electronic file format for pictures or graphics. These
formats are used to display images on the net. Most digital cameras currently
use these formats. Should you not have your graphics as digital files,
mail us your pictures and logo. We will scan them and return you the files
by e-mail for your future use (a small fee does apply for this service).
Remember to send us the best quality images you can.
